Meditation-induced bloodborne factors as an adjuvant treatment to COVID-19 disease:
A recent study by Dr. Joe investigates the potential role of meditation as an additional treatment for COVID-19, supplementing existing approaches like vaccination.
While vaccines remain the primary defense against the virus, the study explores whether meditation can influence the immune system in ways that help the body resist infection or recover more effectively. Previous research has already indicated that meditation may enhance immune function, and this study aimed to determine whether such benefits could extend specifically to COVID-19.
The findings suggest that individuals who practiced meditation regularly and over longer periods had a reduced risk of infection. Moreover, those who did contract the virus tended to recover more quickly.
Laboratory tests revealed that blood from experienced meditators contained factors that could block the virus from entering cells, including both the original strain and the Delta variant. Among these factors, a protein called SERPINA5 was identified as playing a significant role in preventing viral entry into cells.
The study concludes that meditation may strengthen the immune response and serve as a complementary therapy to support recovery from COVID-19.
Overall, these findings point to meditation as a promising "add-on" strategy in managing the disease and enhancing the body’s ability to fight infections.
